I love this cartoon. It represents my SLOW progress in this fabulous endeavor called yoga ~ I’m trying, but I’m a long way from “there”. The improvements are subtle ~ very subtle ~ but there are shifts.
I found this cartoon on a site that licenses cartoons for publications, presentations, and web sites. CartoonStock.com has all sorts of fun images. Their copyright agreement allows me to post this link to all of their yoga cartoon images. There are several that tickled me. If you want to use one of their images ~ as I did above ~ they have various licensing agreements that are quite reasonable. For instance, to post on your blog, they charge a little under $14. (And YES, I paid for it ~ asteya people, asteya ~ hey, y’all are worth it!)

One of the things I love about Anusara Yoga is the sense of fun and play that weaves itself throughout our method. It is not uncommon to hear laughter and applause during a practice, and it is certainly something that attracts me to this method. I love to talk, I love to laugh … and I love word play!
Take for instance the cartoon featuring a conversation between two frogs. (Geez, I hope I’m not violating copyright law here!)
“I tried yoga,” the one frog said to the other, “but the instructor didn’t know SQUAT!”

So, here are my recent “Anusara-isms” (and yes, I made up BOTH of these so no copyright infringement)!
What do you call a person who is new to Anusara Yoga?
An “Ah-Newbie!”
What do you call a person who is a long term Anusara Yoga Practitioner?
An “Anu-saurus!”

Little Quip (that I didn’t write) for my friend Anne …
Question: How many Iyengar yogis does it take to replace a light bulb?
Answer: Only one – but he will need a sticky mat, a backless chair, five blankets, a bolster, six ropes, two belts, six assorted benches, three weights, and a certificate.
Three Cheers for our friends “The People of the Props!”

Final Teaching Note ~ See, there are valuable teaching moments with humor ~ Christina frequently offers us a discourse on props and the appropriate use thereof! We are not opposed to props in Anusara Yoga, not by any “stretch”! So here’s my little mnemonic device: When you think about using props, just make sure it’s “Ap- PROP -riate”!”
Have a great weekend and …
TGIF: Thank Goodness It’s FUN!
