YJ Entry #1: Sunday, September 20th at 9:30 p.m. ~ Denver
Left Austin early this morning and arrived in Denver shortly after noon. Evening spent at my uncle’s home in Denver, which offers a fabulous view of the mountains. We enjoyed the sunset, a few Coronas, and a great meal out on the deck ~ grilled salmon and fresh corn on the cob.
My Day is Done in Denver
The sky: Putting on a show for FREE while we ate dinner!
The last 3 days have taken me to a point beyond exhaustion. Tonight will be a great chance to regroup with some solid sleep before the conference begins. Jen arrives early in the morning. We’ll pick her up at the airport and then come back here for brunch. (Fire up for another food report!) My uncle Dave and his friend Carlos are driving us out to Estes Park to site-see prior to check-in. It will give us a chance to see the area. The conference is actually at the YMCA of the Rockies and, given our schedule, we won’t have much time to go into Estes “proper” so this will be great.
We’ll check in at the lodge late in the afternoon and wait for Jill, Kristen & Jesse to arrive. John Friend will officially open the Gathering with some words around 7:30 tomorrow night. I am excited to finally see him in person! (Okay, I’ll admit it; I feel a bit like a Catholic going off to see the Pope!)
In closing my 6 words for the night: It’s a Colorado Rocky Mountain High!
