YJ Entry #4: Tuesday, September 23rd at 10:15 p.m. ~ Estes Park
A group of us went through the Anusara Immersion & Level I Teacher Training with Christina Sell last year in Austin. Our friend Jesse was one of the few guys in our group, and during one of the immersion weekends, we so deemed ourselves “Jesse’s Girls” in deference to the Rick Springfield song. (We are definitely a kula that plays together!)
So naturally those of us who came from Austin are rooming together in the same lodge. Kristen, Jen, Jill and I are in one room. Kim & Tabitha are in another room with a couple of “pot luck” roommates, and Jesse, likewise, went “potluck” for his roommates. He arrived at the lodge late Sunday evening, checked in and was given his key. Potluck can be kind of risky, but truly how could you go wrong at an Anusara Yoga Gathering?
Opening the door to his room, he found his new roommates preparing for bed ~ one in the shower, one already in bed. And BOTH are women! Now we’re thinking this must have been some kind of mistake, no? (None of us remember reading anything about coed roommates.) We’ve decided that the lodging folks assumed Jesse was a girl in their matching. Not sure who was surprised more ~ the girls or Jesse ~ but in his classic “I make everyone a friend” manner, the three are still roommates 2 days into this. (He’s calling them the “new” Jesse’s girls!)
BONUS PHOTO UPDATE: Jess JUST came down to share this photo with me. He and “New Jesse’s Girls” have apparently been busy this evening applying their sample mud face masks that came in the Yoga Journal participant registration bag.
Like I said before, roommates at an Anusara Gathering … how can you possibly go wrong?
